Plantronics Blackwire 3200 Series

Plantronics Blackwire 3200 Series replace the very popular Plantronics Blackwire 300 Series. There are some apparent cosmetic changes like the new “Lava” cable and accents. Some of the variants include folding speakers along with leatherette ear cushions and 3.5mm connection option. Also…like the Voyager 3200 UC, Voyager 5200 UC, Voyager 8200 UC and Blackwire 5200 Series.

I consider these entry-level headsets designed to support organizations who need to deploy in mass and have tight budgets. Along with Plantronics Manager Pro, subscription base Software-as-a-Service, you gain additional insights for a complete solution.

What’s in the box? Headset and Carrying case (Only Blackwire 3215/3225 versions)

First Impression: Maybe because I review and test so many headsets, to me they looked like competitive product because of the “lava” colored cable. Aside from that, decent looking headset series.

Set up and use: Strongly recommend that you download the free PLT Hub software for Windows and macOS or subscribe to Plantronics Manager Pro to support mass deployments, headset management PLUS gain useful insights.

Very simple. Connect USB-A or USB-C connection into PC/Laptop USB-A or USB-C port. There is an inline control that includes answer/hang up, volume up/down and mute.

The 3215/3225 variants also include additional connectivity to mobile devices that support 3.5mm plug. Like the Samsung Galaxy Note 9!

I’m somewhat spoiled since I get to use many of the high-quality headset models. The Blackwire 3200 Series are low cost, entry-level headsets. They are a good option for organizations that have tight budgets. These are a great option for the “occasional” headset user. The Plantronics Blackwire 3200 Series are okay in terms of audio quality. The noise canceling mic is not strong so I definitely would not recommend for Contact Center environment. Plantronics is going in a new direction which is nice. No more worrying about “Microsoft” or “UC” variants. That was a challenge for many years. Blackwire 3200 series are compatible across all major platforms to include Microsoft, Cisco, Avaya, 8×8, and RingCentral. Also, some organizations have started the transition to USB-C machines and devices. Plantronics also makes adapters to help you convert from USB-A to USB-C and vice versa:

The 3215/3225 variants were more comfortable than 3210/3220 models primarily due to leatherette ear cushions and foldable speakers. They conformed better to my head and ears. I also prefer the added flexibility to connect to PC/Laptop AND a mobile device that supports 3.5mm.

The included mesh carrying case offers a convenient way to store headset and transport.

Conclusion: If you are in need of low-cost USB headset, the Blackwire 3200 Series should definitely be a consideration. Beyond price, the two-year warranty and ability to update firmware via PLT Hub or be managed via Plantronics Manager Pro is a plus.
