Why Call One Created a Dedicated Online Store for Dispatch Equipment

In the early years of Call One, my father would climb into his well-worn, baby-blue 1970s Ford Pinto and drive up and down the state of Florida delivering headsets directly to 911 dispatch agencies.

It was not glamorous. There was no ecommerce site, no online ordering, and certainly no overnight delivery network. There was simply a commitment to getting dispatch professionals the communications equipment they needed—and being there to help when they needed us.

Those agencies were an important part of Call One’s beginning. They helped shape our company and taught us something we have never forgotten: dispatch equipment cannot be treated like ordinary office technology.

When someone calls 911, the headset becomes an essential connection between that caller and the help they need. The equipment must be dependable, comfortable enough for long shifts, and compatible with the agency’s dispatch environment.

Nearly four decades later, the technology has changed considerably. Thankfully, we no longer have to rely on that old Pinto to deliver the equipment. But our commitment to the public safety community has never changed.

Service to dispatch agencies is in our DNA.

A New Challenge for 911 Agencies

Today, public safety communications teams are facing a significant equipment transition.

HP Poly (formerly Plantronics) has discontinued key products that have been widely used in 911 dispatch centers, including the CA22 wireless push-to-talk adapter. Many agencies still depend on this equipment at their dispatch positions and must now determine how they will replace it.

The challenge is not simply finding another headset or PTT adapter.

Agencies need to know which replacement products will work with their existing consoles, what cables and connectors are required, and whether the new equipment will meet the needs of their dispatchers. At the same time, remaining inventory of familiar HP Poly products is becoming increasingly difficult to source.

Our team began hearing many of the same questions from agencies across the country:

  • What equipment is still available?
  • What can replace our existing HP Poly products?
  • Will the replacement work with our dispatch system?
  • Can our dispatchers test the equipment before we make a larger commitment?
  • Where can we find all the products we need in one place?

We knew agencies needed a simpler way to navigate this transition.

Why We Created the Call One 911 Dispatch Equipment Store

In response, we created a secure online equipment store specifically for 911 dispatch agencies.

Rather than asking communications and procurement teams to search through a general technology catalog, the store brings specialized dispatch equipment together in one convenient location.

Agencies can use the store to find:

  • Dispatch headsets
  • Push-to-talk solutions
  • Replacement cables and adapters
  • Training equipment
  • Frequently used accessories
  • Other products selected for public safety communications environments

Our goal is straightforward: help agencies find and source the products they need faster while reducing the risk of ordering the wrong equipment.

The store can also make repeat purchasing easier. Once the right equipment has been identified, an agency has a consistent resource its communications and procurement teams can use for future orders.

More Than an Online Catalog

Although the store provides the convenience of online purchasing, it does not replace the people behind it.

Dispatch environments can be complex, and we do not expect agencies to navigate equipment changes alone. Every agency using the store has access to a dedicated Call One team that can help answer questions, confirm compatibility, and identify appropriate replacement options.

Our team can also help an agency:

  • Review its existing dispatch positions
  • Identify discontinued or difficult-to-source equipment
  • Evaluate compatible replacement products
  • Coordinate product testing when appropriate
  • Provide budgetary pricing
  • Develop a phased replacement plan

This combination of online convenience and experienced human support is what makes the store different. Agencies can move quickly when they know what they need while still having knowledgeable people available when the answer is not obvious.

Helping Agencies Source Equipment Faster

We understand that communications directors and dispatch managers already have more than enough on their plates. Searching multiple websites, comparing part numbers, and trying to confirm whether a particular headset or adapter will work should not consume time that could be spent supporting their people and serving their communities.

The Call One 911 Dispatch Equipment Store was created to make that process easier.

For an agency, that can mean:

  • Less time spent searching for equipment
  • Faster access to needed replacement products
  • Fewer compatibility questions and ordering mistakes
  • A simpler process for repeat purchases
  • One resource for communications and procurement teams
  • Support planning the transition away from discontinued HP Poly equipment

Most importantly, agencies are not being left alone to figure it out.

Continuing a Commitment That Started Nearly 40 Years Ago

For Call One, this is more than the launch of another ecommerce site. It is a modern extension of the work that helped shape our company.

In the beginning, serving an agency meant my father loading headsets into that old baby-blue Pinto and personally driving them wherever they needed to go. Today, technology allows us to give agencies across the country faster and more convenient access to the equipment they depend on.

The method has changed. The commitment has not.

We started by serving 911 agencies, and we remain committed to supporting the professionals who answer the call when their communities need them most.

If your agency is preparing to replace discontinued HP Poly equipment—or simply wants an easier way to source dispatch headsets, PTT solutions, cables, and accessories—we invite you to request access to the store.
